How to compress an image to under 200 KB

· Replikhurt Tools

A file-size limit is different from a pixel-size requirement. To fit an image under 200 KB, use the automatic file-size mode, then check the downloaded result. The tool chooses quality and, if needed, reduces dimensions to meet the byte limit.

Check the upload rules first

Read the allowed formats and minimum dimensions. A form that accepts only JPG cannot use WebP, even if the WebP file is smaller. Keep an untouched original before you begin.

Reduce unnecessary dimensions

Open the Image Compressor, select Fit a file-size limit and Under 200 KB. Choose JPEG or WebP and a maximum width. Upload an image and click Compress image. The output shows the final dimensions and exact byte count.

Adjust JPEG or WebP quality

Choose JPEG for broad compatibility, or WebP if the destination accepts it. Automatic mode searches the quality setting first; if the image still exceeds the target, it reduces dimensions. Select a custom target such as 190 KB when you want a margin. PNG export is available in Manual mode.

Inspect and download the final result

Check small text, edges and faces at normal viewing size. Aim slightly below the limit, for example 190 KB, because upload systems may use different definitions of a kilobyte. Download the result and verify its file size before submitting it. If the final dimensions are too small for the destination, choose a higher limit or use a different source image.
